The training based on virtual reality technique (Virtual Training) is widely studied inrecent years. More and more people and enterprises begin to realize the importance of virtualtraining, that it does not have the limitations that traditional training has, and the needs has atrends of growing. The study of virtual training technique not only has a great theoreticalmeaning, but also has a grand foundation of application and huge potential market. Theapplication of virtual training technique in oil industry surely will accelerate the digitalizationof oil field. The Virtools, Mutigen and OpenGVS are common softwares used for virtual realitydevelopment. The difference among the three soft wares is analyzed in this paper, and the mostsuitable platform for desktop virtual training system is selected.The Human-Computer Interaction Technique is one of the importances in this subject, and3D object pickup is the foundation of the interaction function in the training system. The theoryand realization of 3D object pickup is discussed thoroughly in this paper. And the complexity ofprocess flow and the excessiveness of technique criterion and operating rule in oil industrymake it much more complicated to consider the problems in the interaction process, and theamount of work will be even doubled. Therefore, the database technique is introduced inrealization of training system so that the efficiency of the training system is enhanced greatly.The application of virtual training technique in oil industry is discussed in detail in thispaper, and the developing process of virtual training system is given. The simulation andtraining system of pumping unit operation based on desktop operation is realized by the usingof the composite platform of MultiGen and OpenGVS in the subject. The 3D model isconstructed by MultiGen, the scene control is conducted by the combination of Visual C++ andOpenGVS in the training system. And the design of 3D engine is discussed in detail in thispaper.The training system is well applied in the oil industry, and training effect is favorable. Thetraining stuff not only obtains knowledge but also gets skill training. By the application ofvirtual training system, the dangerousness in traditional training is avoided, and theunnecessary economic loss is diminished.
