As basal electronical equipment, signal source is widely used in the domains of measurement and control of aeronautics and astronautics, communication system, electronic countermeasure, electronic measurement and scientific research etc. This thesis introduced the design and realization of signal source with phase shift and synthesizing based on FPGA. The main function of the signal source is to realize the phase shift of output waveform (ie. sine wave and pulse wave), and output of synthesized waveform which is formed by summing phase-shifted waveform. After analyzing the function of the signal source and explainng detailedly the principle of Direct Digital Frequency Synthesis (DDS), the thesis gived the whole scheme of completing the design of the signal source by using DDS. The scheme consists of FPGA and necessary circuits (ie. peripheral controlling circuits and digital to analog conversion circuit). The design of signal source consists of hardware and software. In hardware part, the EP1C3T144C8 of Corporation Altera is choosed as the main chip and the thesis introduced the realization of peripheral circuits such as the keying module, the display module and the DAC module. In software part, the thesis adopted the design method of modularizing and gave the flow charts of all the software modules, and then it introduced detailedly the design and realization of the DDS module. In this thesis, the function of DDS module was realized with FPGA through programming and then the design of the signal source was realized. The design is used well for reference because the DDS module can be completely applied to other designs of signal source after a few changes in the DDS mod, ule.
