Research On Semantic Web Service Discovering Framework

Web services have altered the traditional mode of web applications, the web is changing itself from an information storage and provider to a service provider to help web users accomplish their task in the best manner by the standardized interfaces and comprehensive service descriptions provided. The two key technologies around web service are description and discovery of web service. The description of web service present standard and briefness to web services and make them interoperable;the discovery of web service allows the service requestor to find out the most suitable functionality and make the automatic composition of web service possible.But current web service technologies such as WSDL/UDDI only describe the basics of web service and the discoveries are frame-based, which obviously do not fulfill the requirements for the automatic discovery and composition of web service. However, the characteristic of web service - functionality provider - suggest us to describe the semantics of the web service in a structural form which can be computer-interpreted, thus the problem of web service discovery can be transformed into the semantic based reasoning process, and then we can exploit the advantages of the Knowledge Management domain. OWL-S is the service-oriented language which describes web service semantics from ontology perspective. The semantic based discovery directly supports the automated composition of web service.The two key processes of it are the abstract semantic web servicedescription and the framework of the semantic web service discovery. This paper closely combined the two aspects and elaborates the framework of the web service discovery. It is the foundation of the implementation for the automated and intellectualized web service discovery.Firstly this paper studies the semantic description of web service and its functionality;introduces the background of web service and its discovery mechanism. Secondly it discusses the semantic web and the semantic web language OWL/OWL-S to further research the effective way of implementing the semantic web service discovery. It especially analyses the issue of UDDI and proposes a framework of applying semantic web in web service discovery according to the requirement of the web services publication, description and matchmaking. Finally the paper keeps this framework design grounded on the JADE platform by using the agents.
