The Research And Implementation Of Data Warehouse Technology Used In Soldier Management System

In the 90's, with thorough expansion of modern media, especially the fast development of Internet, the information that people obtain is being increased greatly .How to analyze and process the vast information, from which the knowledge is mined to provide decision support for management, is an important challenge and topic we faced in the information society. The data warehouse and data mining technique are an efficient way to provide decision support based on business data, which make them get rapid application and expansion in many fields, such as telecommunication, insurance and large retail trade an so on, and generate good social and economic benefit.The traditional soldier management system only focused on business data and process, and data scattered in different isolated sub-systems, so it can't provide data analysis, prediction and decision support for personnel or institute. The data warehouse characterizes topic-based, data integrated, non-volatile and Time Variant, which makes we can discover the knowledge and rule in vast information that will provide scientific decision support for management by dynamic trace and analysis The data warehouse of soldier management will provide the basis for development objective, management provision and soldier assesses etc, and also provide impersonal prediction for the development of solider and our army, as a result, soldier management will be changed from pure management to the integral one which characters prediction and decision support.In this thesis, the concept, character, status in domestics and in abroad of the data warehouse was first introduced, and techniques for design of data warehouse was also presented. Then , the present state and problem existed in solider management was summarized and analyzed. Based on the information system used for solider management, including training, army affair ,communication and spy sub-systems, we proposed the model of data warehouse for solider management according to the step and method of design a data warehouse. Finally, the data warehouse designed was implemented in MS SQL SERVER 2000 platform by creating database and data source, data dimension and multi-dimension data set, and data pretreatment ,including data purification, data cleaning and format conversion during the procedure of data from business sub-systems export to data warehouse,was also implemented by DTS service of SQL Server.
