The rapid development of multimedia technology and network technology has brought infinite energy to application of streaming media. And proxy cache of streaming media,which based on Internet has become a new research field. In this dissertation, we analyze inland and overseas current status of streaming media technology and its application synthetically, point out the main problems to be solved in streaming media application and bring forward proxy cache to improve playback effect of client streaming media. Firstly, from the viewpoint of system theory, we analyze the inherent characteristics of streaming media and related network transmission protocols, point out the significance of cache strategy to cache performance. Secondly, we discuss the framework of streaming media system from the viewpoint of system engineering. And finally, we put forward a cache system application model based on multi object cache strategy. This dissertation emphasize on discussing these important problems: ①Proxy cache technology of Content Distribution Network (CDN) for streaming media. ②Popularity law of streaming media,point out it conforms to Zipf distribution (θ=0.271). ③In aspects of cache strategy, point out the difference between streaming media and Web page, by aimming at the deficiency of traditional strategy, propose a multi object value function based cache strategy (MOC). Experimental simulation results have proved that MOC is far better than other traditional cache algorithms. ④Design of cache system for streaming media based on MOC strategy, discuss the key technology deeply.
