The microstrip filter is widely used in the field of communication,and its basic unit isthe open-circuited microstrip resonator. The frequency response of microstrip filter can besatisfied by using microstrip resonators of the special distribution, which can realize the givencoupling characteristic. It is significant to calculate the coupling coefficient between feedingline and microstrip resonator accurately for designing the microstrip filter. By analyzing theelectromagnetic field of feeding line and microstirp resonator, a new method for computingthe coupling coefficient between them has been proposed in the thesis. The full-wave EMsimulation has verified validness of the method by utilizing the models, which has beenestablished with HFSS. Based on the equivalent circuit model, another method which cancalculate coupling coefficient approximately has been also put forward. By the experimentalsimulation, it has been demonstrated that the results calculated with the above two methodsare approximate to each other under certain conditions. Finally, the electromagnetic couplingcharacteristic between two microstrip resonators has been studied, and the equivalent circuitmodel has been analyzed.
