It is significant to calculate the coupling coefficient of coupling microstrip resonators accurately and to identify the character of electromagnetic coupling for designing the microstrip filter.Based on the equivalent circuit model, a method which can calculate coupling coefficient of microstrip resonators by adding the electric-wall and magnetic-wall in the symmetry plane of the coupling structure has been put forward. By analyzing the equivalent network model, a new method with the resonant frequency of six strange points on the amplitude plot and phase plot of transmission coefficient S21 for computing the coupling coefficient has also been proposed in the thesis.The full-wave EM simulation has verified validness of the method by utilizing the models, which has been established with HFSS.By the experimental simulation,it has been demonstrated that the results calculated with the above two methods are approximate to each other under close coupling condition. Finally, the electromagnetic coupling characteristic between two microstrip resonators has been studied,and a method to identify the character of electromagnetic coupling by comparing the electric and magnetic coupling coefficient which calculated through the electromagnetic field is presented ,The results are given to verify the accuracy of the present method.
