The mutual coupling between the antenna array units is one of the key factors that affect theperformance of the antenna. Researches on mutual coupling suppression technology haveimportant significance for improving the performance of the antenna. In this paper, the applications to reduce the mutual coupling between microstrip antennaswith SRR (split ring resonator) and CSRR (complementary split-ring resonators) are analyzed. The main work of this paper are as follows:First, the effect of changing several parameters of SRR is discussed. The mutual coupling oftwo microstrip antenna is researched and the effect of changing the distance of the two patches isanalyzed.Second, three novel structure based on CSRR are introduced and summarized withcomparisons, which are designed to reduce the mutual coupling between two coplanar microstrippatches radiating in the same frequency band. Based on the simulated results and measured results,an excellent mutual coupling suppression effect is obtained. At last, two novel structure based on SRR are designed to reduce the mutual couplingbetween two coplanar microstrip antennas, with their resistance band characteristics analyzed.Compared with only using dielectric plate or metal plate, a better mutual coupling suppressioneffect is obtained based on the simulated results.
