Business process reengineering and optimization plays an important role for modern enterprises in the fierce market competition. Based on the workflow technology, we can model the business process, then implement workflow emulation to find out the unreasonable part to optimize and rebuild. JTang application server is a lightweight J2EE application server fleveloped by Zhejiang University. It is a powerful middleware developing platform, which aims at facilitating the information technology of E-commerce, E-Government affair. The included workflow service is an important component of enterprise E-service.This thesis introduces a testing-based simulative workflow model JTangFlow. This model satisfies needs of workflow simulation by importing correlative information into workflow model. With the software testing and ECA rules, it studies workflow simulation from functions and structures. Then the paper introduces the architecture of JTangFlow and performance metrics of workflow simulation.In the 1st chapter, basic knowledge of workflow and workflow simulation is outlined. The development and some concepts of workflow are presented. The background of workflow simulation and its definition are also explained. Then, a survey of current research about workflow simulation is studied.In the 2nd chapter, we put forward a workflow model JTangFlow. The model consists of basic model and supporting model. The supporting model constitutes simulation environments for JTangFlow. Then, detailed descriptions and formal expressions of the models are described.In the 3rd chapter, JTangFlow simulation is studied with use of software testing technology. Firstly, we introduce some relative simulation technologies and software testing policy. Then, JTangFlow simulation is mainly discussed from process functions and process structures. The driver of JTangFlow simulation is ECA rules. Lastly, the architecture of JTangFlow and its simulation process are proposed.In the 4th chapter, we summarize the performance metrics of workflow simulation and focus on time and cost. Taking the two metrics for example, we discribe the basic principle and evaluation method of the simulation performance evaluation. Finally, we give a case to explain the JTangFlow simulation.In the end, all of the works in this dissertation are summed up, and their futures are prospected.
