A great number of damaged archives have been produced in the social development. It is very important to repair them in time, but manually papering has many defects in repairing them. So, it is necessary to develop a new automatic method to replace manual method. In this paper, the mainly mechanical and electrical design, operational functions and basic technical parameters for the machine are provided. The developed machine contains such features as automation, high efficiency, and widely availability, having achieved such objectives as: substituting method of roller applying glue for manually brushing glue; replacement of manually mount operation table with vacuum absorption movement placement table; brush automatically rather than manually flattening paper; achieving even rate, controllable, safe and reliable functions by applying intelligent NC technology.At the same time, Special supporting paper and glue are developed, which are nice match with the machine. Some experiment have indicated that The developed paper is superior to traditional supporting paper, having advantages such as uniform quality, moderate whiteness; The developed glue is mixed type, achieving expected requirements for quality. At last the paper provides practical parameter for paperingprocess.Generally, this development project has implemented integrated structure on papering and drying, which is a breakthrough for archive technology automation in the world. Now, several machines are working with high efficiency on their position.
