Grid technology is a growing information technology, and it aims to build the virtual organization, resource sharing and collaborative working environment. It can eliminate the Information Island and Resource Island. Based on grid, the paper puts forward the conception of manufacturing grid. Manufacturing resources distribute widely, and manufacturing grid can link them together by grid, internet or special networks. For the superior of grid technology in manufacturing, developed industrial countries change their technological strategies rapidly. In order to realize the efficacious configuration of manufacturing resource, they emphasize in manufacturing grid and make plans of development of manufacturing technology.The paper focuses on manufacturing resource configuration algorithm. The main contents including:1. Grid's fundamental conception and the relative theories of grid technology are discussed explicitly. Firstly, the paper points that grid technology is a growing information technology, and it aims to build the virtual organization, resource sharing and collaborative working environment. It can eliminate the Information Island and Resource Island. Secondly, the applications of grid technology and grid computing in manufacturing are introduced.2. The analysis of the resource discovery mechanisms in grids is mentioned. The resource discovery is a key problem in wide-area distributed systems. It has great impact on the efficiency of the resource sharing and collaborating in such environments. The key issues of resource discovery are discussed. A layered architecture of the resource discovery mechanism and the functionality of each layer and its implementation are described.3. Manufacturing resource configuration algorithm is analyzed, which makes up the bulk of the thesis. Firstly, the standards of resource configuration are given. Secondly, the configuration algorithms of changeable resources and configuration algorithm of multi-tasks are illustrated.4. The limitations of manufacturing resource configuration algorithm are discussed .Recommendations of the standards of resource configuration and optimal resources are mentioned.The configuration algorithm in this thesis based on changeable resources and multi-tasks can make the manufacturing resources more efficacious. And it's helpfulto solve the concrete problems.
