With the issue of the 3G license, telecom providers are up against more and more competition. After building the operational base, every provider is in face of the matter with how to increase their market share.In the fierce competition environment, all telecom providers change their objective to improve the market share. So Customer Relationship Management became the focus. It is the most important thing for providers that keeping and improving the market share. The designment and development of customer detainment policy make more effective and purposive in CRM of telecom providers.The thesis is based on a project of one telecom provider to design the policy of customer detainment. The project designs and develops a whole operable customer detainment policy based on modeling from customer's call data using datamining technology. Through the method of datamining ,the provider can take advantage of the customer's data and help to detainment of customer. The project relates to the technology of data extract,variable selecting and data pre-dealing, model development , assessment of model and policy of implementing model. These technology are all the parts of a datamining process.In the process of project, we had researched and analysed the current detainment policy. The project has developed a exercisable and effective customer detainment policy and obtained the big profit through modeling from customer data.
