In this dissertation, the design for optimization of performance of Windows CE Portable Media Player is discussed.This PMP system is based on Windows CE which running on Intel PXA270 Processor. Filters are developed based on DirectShow structure, which are intergrated into Windows Media Player of Windows CE to improve the performance.In chapter 1, a comprehensive introduction about the significance of the research is given. The current research status of PMP is also mentioned.In chapter 2, the relative techniques which refer to PMP is discussed.In chapter 3, a discussion about the Board Support Package design is given, including the system Boot Loader, OAL and device drivers. Windows CE kernel module customization and SDK development are also discussed.In chapter 4, the design for optimization of performance of Windows CE Portable Media Player is discussed in particular. After the presentation of the DirectShow structur and the features of the Intel PXA270 for optimization, the design processs of the Filters is explained in detail,including the modification of the display driver.In chapter 5, the result of the software testing is given.In chapter 6, the main research conclusion is summarized. The prospect of further research work is also made.
