With the rapid development of network communication technology and computer hardware, all kinds of embedded device system swarmed into many application areas. This leaded to the traditional personal-computer central pattern transferred to embedded-device central pattern. There is a severe challenge in network management (NM) area as to these devices existed in current network. Therefore, some hot topics focus on these resource-limited devices.With the widely use of the NM, the limitations of centralized NM are exposed. Firstly, the architecture is hard to expand;Secondly, polling way will cause network congestion;Finally, it is hard to find reason for the breakdown of the system. Hence it can't integrate distributed and isomerous applications. Meanwhile, distributed NM gets more and more attention. Among all the distributed technologies, WebService and J2EE adapt to the network application above network layer, DCOM only depends on Windows OS. Comparing with the rest, CORBA exhibits good grade in expanding and supporting of embedded/real-time application.The NM based-on CORBA adopts distributed object technologies, treats all the managing applications and managed elements as distributed objects, then the interacting of all these objects constitutes the NM. The trait of this technology shields the differences of the programming languages, network protocols and OSs and provids some limpidity. But conventional CORBA NM waste more resource of devices because of its powerful functions and good currency.In this thesis, an architecture based on miniCORBA, which is used to manage resource-limited devices, is presented. Embedded CORBA object server is used to replace the gateway in traditional structure, so the complex job of protocols conversion is cut. To save the device resource, some functions outside device which is cut by miniCORBA are utilized, such as dynamically looking for NM information, reducing network flux, defining interface of NM information, the organization of managed object, etc. Meanwhile, referring the Realtime CORBA, a cache pool is proposed in logic layer to enforce the real-time performance of embedded system.
