IPv6 revises many flaws existing in IPv4, it would become the main IP protocol in the next generation network;and the Label switch architecture, for its abilities to promote the internet quality of service, is now as a complement of traditional routing architecture. IPv6 label switch architecture, 6LSA, which is described in this dissertation, improves the extant 6LSA which is defined in the specification. We call this new architecture as 6LSAC, because its mode of distributing labels is driven by control singling. 6LSAC combines the two opposite technologies naturally by the FlowLabel field in the head of IPv6, provides both connection and connectionless oriented transactions, and can adapt to the new applications which require higher quality of service. This paper begins with analyzing the states of the research in QoS based on IP network. Then, it improves the extant 6LSA, redesigns the whole structure and each module, and finally implements the key model, 6LSAC forwarder based on the FreeBSD platform. When assuming the control models have been implemented, we validated the process of label switch in 6LSAC. The result of this research shows that 6LSAC can be deployed in the IPv6 network. As IPv6 spreads into the global area, the applications of 6LSAC such as traffic engineering, VPN, will extremely improve the network situation in which the current network has only single quality of service.
