Recently, with the rapid development of computer and communications technique, especially the prevalence of Net and 3C(Computer, Communication and electronic Consumption), micromation and specialization become the new trend. Embedded products have already become main-stream in mformation industry. The network display belongs to intellectualized terminal category, which communicates through Ethernet and serial port, mainly used in long-distance data display of industry. It has high application value and market prospect.The research mainly bases on processor S3C44B0X, whose kernel module is ARM7TDMI with 8M SDRAM and 2M Flash. The main module integrates some peripheral equipment, such as serial port, network port, LCD, USB and so on. It also offers extend interface. In this thesis, it describes the research and practice of embedded uClinux system based on ARM processor. The thesis introduces the actuality of embedded operation and its development and significance at first. Then it explains the concept, instruction of embedded system and all kinds of embedded operation system, following that the task's hardware is introduced. After that, the thesis explains bootloader which is a short program to load operation system, uClinux kernel, readable and writable file system JFFS2. At last it introduces GUI-microwindow which is a very important part in embedded system.
