Research And Application Of Testing Methods In Scrum Based On VSTS

Nowadays we have witnessed the extremely rapid development of information technology. With increase of high-level demand and dependency on information technology, more advanced requirement and expectation of it are also expanded. Within the field of software development, there's the same challenge. To solve different kinds of difficulties and problems, two points should be taken into consideration. One is how to find an appropriate methodology for it, and the other is how to find an efficient platform with which the whole team can work well.Scrum is a typical agile development method. Scrum pays more attention on agility to fit rapid changes in software requirement. Compared with heavyweight method which pays much attention on process and documentation, Scrum is a lightweight method. Scrum is used to manage and control software and product development using iterative, incremental practices. Using Scrum can significantly increase productivity and reduce time to benefit. It is ideally suited for projects with rapidly changing or highly emergent requirements.VSTS(Visual Studio 2005 Team System) is an integrated platform developed by Microsoft. VSTS is different from former versions of Visual Studio, as it is not only a robust, mature, easy-to-use developing tool, but also a platform integrated with different software development method. In SDLC(Software Development Life Cycle), team members including different kinds of roles, such as program managers, developers, testers all can follow the work flow to leverage their working. In this point of view, VSTS is a framework model for applications and a perfect conjunction between developing tool and software development method.In this thesis, Scrum method and its characteristics are discussed. A process template based on Scrum is created in VSTS. Several testing methods are investigated in VSTS, examples are included to demo automated testing for WinForm application and WebPage application.
