Research Of Smartphone Operating System Based On Embedded Linux

Accordingto the development trend of the technologies of Smartphone OperationSystems (SOSs), architectures of the SOSs are analyzed, and the design method ofSOSbasedonembeddedLinuxisstudied,developedandvalidated.Applying the embedded hardware platform with ARM9 CPU, and the wirelessdual frequency module– SIM100 GSM/GPRS, we established a dual-coredemonstrationplatformforsmartphone,onwhichembeddedLinuxoperationsystemisrun. The platform with embedded Linux is investigated and specified in terms of theprocess scheduling, the memory management, the file systems and the graphics userinterface (GUI). The core module of wireless communication system is developed inline with protocol ETSI GSM 07.10, and thus fundamental functions for wirelesscommunications are realized, e.g. the voice, the short message and GPRS-base Email.Furthermore, based on embedded GUI Microwindows, typical applications ofsmartphone are developed. we present an SOS prototype on the hardwaredemonstration platform, through fundamental functions of communications are testedandvalidated.
