Smartphones have become the mainstream products in mobile communication terminals. Research on software platform of smartphones is the hot spot of embedded technology. The way of experimental in the area of computer and communication teaching in universities, has been changed to the way of doing experiment by given a open platform and be encouraged to innovate. This paper concentrates the studies on the design and realization of smartphone software experimental platform, combines the development of smartphone software with the experimental platform,and provides students with develop environment and experimental platform of smartphone,in order to improve students'creativity and innovation.This paper analyzed and summarized the development of the current status of the development status of smart phones,features of smart phones with different operating systems and the development of the current experimental teaching,proposed that the experimental platform use embedded Linux as the operating system. And, making a in-depth study on smart phones architectures with embedded Linux operating. Based on the above analysis, the experimental platform architecture with embedded Linux operating system and hardware environment which used in this paper is given. The architecture has three layers which include operating system layer, middleware layer and application layer. According to this three layers, system software is designed which include cross-compile environment, Bootloader, Linux kernel, file system, GUI and database design. The environment of application running is established by finished system software design.Basic multi-thread application experimental project is designed by combining smart phone's functions and features of experimental teaching. Phone, SMS and phonebook application is also designed as innovative experimental project. Other projects can be done based on experimental platform is also given. System testing is given based on UP-NetARM2410-S hardware environment, and the system performance analysis is given subsequently. At last, next step of work which needed to be refined and improved is given.
