Study On The Application Of Data Warehouse Technology In A Hospital

In this paper, it is stressed that it is necessary and impendent to establish datawarehouse in HIS (Hospital Information System) considering China Petroleum CenterHospital (CPCH) status.The application of TRAK HIS (TRAK is an Australian Company) in CPCHeither changes the hospital's management pattern or accumulates large amounts ofdata. With the competition in medical treatment market is becoming more and moreseriously, the hospital must make good use of the accumulated data in diagnosis,therapy etc. process in order to win. In virtue of the Data Warehouse System, bythoroughly mining, analyzing the related date inside or outside the hospital, peoplecan quickly turn mountains of raw data into useful and valuable information in orderto support decision. The principles and design methodologies of Data WarehouseSystem are studied in this paper. Then the basic target and necessary functions of DataWarehouse in hospital are put forwarded.First, it is introduced the structure of TRAK HIS, then how the complicated datain text, numeric and image etc. are created, stored and displayed in diagram in TRAKHIS.Second, the prefix information of MedTrak system table, basic information tableof inpatient facility, and basic information of inpatients are displayed by analyzingand packing up the data in MedTrak.Considering the component of TRAK data source, many topics are designed, andlogic design is on the cost record of inpatients as fact table in order to fit therequirement of hospital data mart, Refer to the powerful data warehouse features inSQL Server? 2000, the author designs an actual data warehouse system, and thearchitecture and key processes are discussed thoroughly.It is useful to prompt the data warehouse principals in application that the designand part practice of this hospital data warehouses.
