Since China entered the WTO, competition has become increasingly fierce in thedistribution field of the publishing industry. To give suggestions on how to developand promote products for enterprises, this thesis adopts marketing, management,economics, statistics, and ideas from home and aboard. Using qualitative andquantitative research methods, and beginning with an introduction of the definitionand quality of books and book distribution, it describes the characteristics of the bookmarket and other detailed features in subdividing markets. It also analyzes the demandfor the book market and studies consumers' buying behavior, psychology and otherfactors that affect their buying behavior. It then takes Hebei province as example,collects data and creates a mathematical model. This model predicts the potentialneeds of the Hebei Province book market at the end of "Eleventh Five-year Plan" inthe year of 2010.According to these analyses and predictions, and considering the state ofcompetition in the book market, it suggests marketing strategies to focus on indistribution practice. These strategies include products strategy, pricing strategy, andsales and promotion strategy. Finally, the book distribution system reform is furtherdiscussed and analyzed.
