Improving product quality via an effective quality management system is a key to ensure the business success of a company. Today, a number of manufactories have established a well defined quality assurance system such as ISO9000/1/2 by using a computer system. However, having such a kind of computer system to support quality assurance system is a challenge as it has to meet the real needs of the manufactory and be cost effective. In this study, a MIS (Management Information System) for Standard Quality Certification System has been implemented in Fengfan Corporation Hebei province. Object-oriented design concept was used to design to the system and RUP (Rational Unified Process) model was used to approach the system requirements. Briefly, the system has two layers and be considered as C/S structure after careful comparison with B/S structure. PowerBuilder was used as development language and MS SQL server was selected as the database management software. The system has been successfully implemented. It has been stable, secure, easily maintained after several months trial on the customer site. The first chapter introduced the background of the project and fundamentals of Standard Quality Certification System. The rest chapters talked about the design, implementation, testing etc. Finally, the paper makes an analysis of the popularization of the project and its prospects, points out some defects and gives some suggestions.
