This dissertation describes the research and application of embedded system which is designed for the technology of sound/vibration signal detecting and analysis. It covers the theoretical research of sound or vibration signal in DSP, such as octave-band filter, one-third-octave-band filter and multi-rate FIR filter bank, and the method of hardware design and software architecture building in the embedded systems. At first, the dissertation begins with the objects and meaning of this project's work. Secondly, it describes of the sound/vibration signal detecting and analysis technology's developing trend, key techniques. Finally, we educe the meaning of the combination of embedded computing system and this technique.The multi-rate FIR band pass filter bank is proposed in chapter 2, which is used as core component in octave-band or one-third-octave-band filter, can reduce the computing redundancy and increase the filtering speed remarkable. The building of embedded platform for the sound/vibration signal detecting and analysis system is the key point of this project, the following chapters are arranged to describe the processing of building.The highlight of the hardware system is the dual-core architecture, which is comprised of Samsung S3C2410 RISC CPU based on ARM920T kernel and TI TMS320VC5502 DSP processor, the whole hardware system is constructed in an architecture which based on these two processors. The application program is supported by Qtopia GUI (Graphic User Interface) which runs on S3C2410 and the algorithm is executed by DSP co-processor. Linux operating system is ported to manage the whole hardware resource and software's running, while the building embedded Linux software architecture need a great lot work to do, the chapter 5 will describe the detail processing, including compiling the GNU cross-tool chain, porting boot loader and Linux kernel to ARM920T processor, the design, configure and building root file system, and prepare the Qtopia library for the GUI.We have designed and developed a platform for the research or application of sound/vibration signal. And an application scheme of the distributed environment noise monitor system is proposed, which provides distributed detecting and study of noise and vibration in an area even the whole city.
