| Due to the requirements of the applications in telecommunications, specific equipments, military, space research and private data network, market of Semiconductor Optical Amplifier(SOA) will keep highly developing trends, which is very conspicuous. SOA is multi-used and which is very convenient, this leads to the consumption increases rapidly. Optical components producers on top tier all over the world keep their eyes on this market and can not wait to put great investment into SOA manufacturing. In large-scale SOA producing, automatic measurement is eagerly needed to improve the test efficiency, and this leads to intelligent evaluation board which is applied in automatic measurement system. The evaluation board hardware and software system in this article is studied to reduce the workload and increase work efficiency in large-scale SOA testing. National 863 Project—Scale production technique for high performance semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA)(2002AA312130) is the research background of this evaluation board system. Some obvious achievement are listed below: (1)Developed evaluation board circuit in good compatibility, adding function of on board tunable threshold of driving current and operating temperature, setting tunable threshold in embedded software, comparing to some evaluation board products, this one is more flexible and compatible; (2)Developed SOA Remote Driver 1.0, the creative idea in this research, which totally replicates the function on board, moreover it can be integrated with the source code of testing equipment control software, when they meet, an intelligent automatic measurement system for SOA comes into being; (3)Introduced a type of advanced cooling system which can remove the heat from surface of butterfly type SOA efficiently and includes domestic scarcely used clamp, it makes SOA work steadily in long times, resolves the problem of not easy to cool SOA in past experiment research; (4)Times of tests on circuit and remote driver have been executed to validate the capability of the evaluation board system and to validate if it is robust enough, and the result is in expectation; According to ITU-T G.661,IEC 61290-1-1 and GB/T 16850.1-1997 standards, under the driving of evaluation board, a specific SOA has been tested, the parameters indicate that this SOA works in a good condition. |
