As one of the important technologies in clinical diagnosis, endoscope technology has been widely applied in many aspects in the medical area. However, the application of the conventional endoscope systems has been restricted by some deficiencies. Doctors spend a lot of energy to record the diagnostic information manually, which involves errors due to the reading and writing and reduces the working efficiency. Moreover, much inconvenience has been identified in the storage and management of the patients' documents, the case history and the photos, which are saved in the form of paper and film, respectively. The shortcomings of current technology have motivated the development of an advanced system.Based on the characteristic of medical multimedia database and requirement of endoscope information management system, the present study developed an endoscope information management system by applying the related computer theory and technology such as software engineering and data structure method on the platform of PowerBuilder 7.0 and Anywhere 6.0. The design has at the same time taken into consideration of the principle and technology of the endoscope and the demands from the practical operation. In addition, it is also characterized of using database design technology to implement the storage of patients' information and diagnosis results and implementing Artifical IntelligenceEexpert System Theory to realize intelligent diagnoses. The resulted system holds the following major advantages: 1) saving the patients' case history, photos, diagnostic results and other information in the database that can be maintained for a long time without distortion; 2) using the photo position flag to signal the photos, so that doctors and patients can make out easily what is shown in the photos. It can generate the case history report containing texts and photos with photo position flag automatically; it can draw the symptom conclusion directly from the diagnostic description, thus provide the doctors with the assistant diagnoses; it can search patients' case history and photos by various approaches, carry out sort and statistic flexibly and expediently, hence produce more convenience for the consultation, teaching and scientific research.This study has realized the intelligent diagnosis and management by combining the database technology with multi-media technology and medical diagnosis technology. The photo position flag makes the photo information more clear and accurate; therefore, it is easy for patients to count check. The intelligent generation of the case history report has significantly diminished the manual input work incurred by doctors, subsequently enhance the working efficiency. Intelligent diagnoses system provides advice for doctors as an assistant diagnoses instrument, which will relieve doctors' press and improve diagnoses efficiency.Practice has proved that the application of endoscope information management system has improved the level of hospitals' management and diagnosis.
