Study On Standard Of Chinese News Information Classifying

Classification is a sort of important information retrieval language, also a tool of scientific and automatic management on information resources. However, in our country there isn't a unified classification in fields of news so far. These existing standards of news classifying are different, not only giving bad influence on scientific management and efficient share in news information resources, but also retarding paces of classifying-thematic integrative construction for news information retrieval. Furthermore, the existing standards of news classifying in our country aren't compatible with international standards, going against news information transmission and intercommunion between different countries. With rapid development of modern information technology and mass increasing of news information resources, to create a new "Standard of Chinese News Information Classifying" becomes a very crucial and urgent task.Under the support of the government, on the day of 18th November, 2003, Study on "Standard of Chinese News Information Classifying" was sanctioned as an important scientific research project. It was sponsored by Xinhua News Agency, and People's Daily, Broadcast and Television Bureau, Guangming Daily, Economy Daily and China News Agency etc. are chief supporters. The main aim of this research project is to develop Chinese as well as international "technological standard of News information", by making use of modern technology, it will benefit disseminating Chinese culture and strengthening national cohesion.In late October, 2004,following my tutor Professor Liu, I went to Xinhua News Agency and participated in research team of "Standard of Chinese News Information Classifying" project with honor. From then on, I began with my research on Standard of Chinese News Information Classifying, including research on framework of the classification, classifying forms and specifications. During the course of project research, I gradually knew more and more about general object and main content of study on news information classifying, moreover, I made clear some basic principles on classification research, special thoughts and methods about compilation of classifying forms. By means of collecting suggestions from experts in every walk of life, accompanying with practical news classifying tests, we gained much valuable experience and enlightenment. All these can be used for reference in coming construction of news information standardization. This is thepurpose and significance of my article for master's degree.The paper discusses the issues of "Standard of Chinese News Information Classifying" in following eight sections:Section 1: Introduce the skeleton of "study on Standard of Chinese News Information Classifying" project, addressing its research aim, content and mode selection etc.Section 2: Expatiate the important meaning and necessity of this project research.Section 3: Summarize domestic and overseas research on "Standard of Chinese New Information Classifying", particularly analyze strongpoint and shortcomings of several typical taxonomies.Section 4: Discuss advantages and disadvantages of different approaches and put forward the best feasible way for creating "Standard of Chinese New Information Classifying".Section 5: Further exploration on feasibility of creating "Standard of Chinese New Information Classifying".Section 6: Roundly explain the study on "Standard of Chinese New Information Classifying", including basic courses of standard research, framework of classifying system, classifying forms, specifications and so on, and sum up some useful principles and remarkable features of this project.Section 7: Clarify in detail all the thoughts and methods of study on "Standard of Chinese New Information Classifying".Section 8: Think about problems needed to be solved in the future, and bring forward further suggestions to improve the study on standard of news information classifying.
