Building Method And System Development Of BOM For Small & Medium Manufacturing Enterprises

With the development of our country's Informatization, enterprise information management is not only the goal for the big enterprises who own great fund, technology and experts , more and more SMMEs (Small & Medium Manufacturing Enterprises ) have realized that it is necessary to start information management and involve in the process of it. In the current enterprise information management system, whichever ones such as ERP, MRPII, MES, or MIS, BOM (Bill of Material) is the core data source in all systems. The building of BOM directly affects the capability of the system. However, it highly demands for the design and building of BOM to SMMEs because of their production characters and information foundation. Therefore, it is a important problem for SMMEs how to build BOM in their information management system during the course of enterprise Informatization.Based on the project of system development and application for Chaoyang Automobile Steering Gear Co.Ltd, through the quantity of investigation and study in the factory, the analysis for the problems of SMMEs' information management, the comparison for the building methods of BOM inside and outside, a multi-sort BOM building method is proposed in this paper depending on the principle of "30% of technology, 70% of management, 120% of data". Meanwhile the practicability, expansibility and economy are also taken together into consideration. Furthermore, this paper takes use of Microsoft VB.net as the development tool to develop a subsystem of BOM bases on Microsoft SQL server 2000 in this way independently, and then presents the design theory detailedly, especially discuss the problems and the key techniques of integration for this method and also list the source code. This subsystem of BOM has been applied by Chaoyang Automobile Steering Gear Co.Ltd's information management system as its data source. This paper also introduces some typical examples for the integrated application of BOM to show the result of this method.In addition, aiming at the sale character of SMMEs, combining with the situation of this company, a subsystem of sale is designed and developed. Its system analysis and realization are also introduced. All the two subsystems have been successfully applied and get the satisfaction of the users.
