ICAI system is a application mode of computer assisted instruction based on artificial intelligent science, recognize science and thought science.It collects to the utmost the experience and wisdom of instruction experts and improves the teaching efficiency greatly by the unmanned and individual instruction assisted by computer. One of the key characters of ICAI is it's individual instruction which could select the most suitable teaching content and strategy according to the learner's ability.This paper focus on the student assessment and the selection of teaching method. Firstly, we put forward the method of student knowledge assessment in which we apply the certainty theory considering the chanciness of the examination and the oblivion of mastered knowledge. It keeps updating the status of the students'mastering degree of field knowledge points based on the shadiness factor and certainty factor among various knowledge points. Secondly, we make a thorough study of teaching method selection that combines the fuzzy expert system and fuzzy neural networks. Fuzzy expert system could select the suitable teaching method according to the learner's character while fuzzy neural netwoks could modify the incomplete fuzzy rule in fuzzy expert system. Finally, we design a fuzzy expert system of selecting high school math teaching methods and a fuzzy neural networks of modifying fuzzy rules in fuzzy expert system.
