In manufacturing sectors, the cold roll forming machine is in wide use for the forming of slabs. In view of its own complexity, the workmanship and technology of domestic cold roll forming machine are still immature currently. Based on the technology of Virtual Instrument, the Automatic Control System has been designed and put into practice, aimed at fundamentally improving the current operating patterns, which is heavily dependent on manual work, imprecise in formation and low in productivity. On the basis of data acquisition, the whole system is industrially-controlled-computers-centered, including such technology, say, computers, automatic control, test and tryout, mechanical engineering and etc. Labwindows/CVI, the advanced virtual instrument in the international testing and controlling area, is embodied in R&D of the system. The essay, on the basis of analysis of the system design, elaborates on how to operate details of the system upon the design of hardware as well as software. Moreover, it stresses several key technical difficulties and the solutions. The success of the system significantly enhances the quality and efficiency in production, boasting low cost, simple structure and short-term development cycle. Plus it offers high value of reference to design and develop the equipment, akin to the automatic system.
