As an important facilitation to computer education, the development of online examination system represents a significant aspect of education reform. With the rising of computer network technology and communication technology in recent decades, online examination system develops rapidly and will be sure to play a more and more important role in distant education in the future.After a massive survey of reviews,domestic or abroad, the thesis aims at the knowledge of the features about test paper resources and online examination. A tentative analysis of the latest system developing technology was made, and the design about the combination of J2EE technology with massive database management system was chosen.Then the requirements of system function were analyzed and the overall design of online examination system was defined with its structure discovered and its function design completed. 'To some extent, the feature of intelligence can be found in the system, for example, the students could not only undergo the online examination simultaneously, but could do the unit tests assignments. Next, in accordance with the compiling theory of test paper resource and the features of computer science, a circumspect and accurate definition of the test papers' attribute was given. According to the requirements of examination outline, the test papers were chosen and a structure-reasonable and quality-excellent test paper resource was established so as to lay a base for making test papers. Finally, complying to different teaching objectives, rapid and random test paper-making, relative evaluation test paper-making, absolute evaluation test paper-making, and the algorithm of test paper-making were proposed. A online examination system which incorporates all the function of online examination, test, paper-making, paper-checking, score-consulting, statistic-analyzing and test paper-managing. At last, considering the safety problems encountered by each network application, several safety mechanisms and realization were proposed.
