News requires an objective and impartial manner. So perhaps some people think that the reporter's emotion may affect news'fairness as well as objectivity, and further hold the negative attitude. They believe that it is the reason that provides power for news. However, according to the journalism history of human beings, we can find out that journalism has always been being a unification of objective fact and subjective knowledge.Reporter's emotion belongs to the "subjective thinking", especially in the disaster report. Reporters'sincere and warm affection can often serve to move people and bring people confidence to fight against disaster. Early in 2008, Southern China suffered extreme heavy rain and severe snow freeze, and The People's Daily gave the continuous reports for 75 days, and reporter's emotive elements such as sympathy, wake-up, struggling, fighting, encouragement, admiration and adoration greatly contributed to the unification of people who was struggling for the significant success in fighting against disaster.This article attempts to take the report on 2008 southern rain and snow freeze disaster from the People's Daily as an example, analyzes reporter's feelings towards disaster and the news products in which emotion is involved, and aims at disclosing the regular pattern of reporter's emotion in the procedure of editing the disaster news.
