Research And Implementation Of HL7 Message Parsing And Transmission Technology

Along with information and computer technology fast developing, the requirement of sharing medical data and interconnecting medical information systems is increasingly urgent, so uniform standard for medical information has become the trend. It is indicated specifically in"2003-2010 National Health Information Development Plan"by Ministry of Health that:"Insisting the principle of combining bringing with developing in the construction of information standard, paying close attention to the develop of international health information standards, applying international standards equivalently, publicizing and implementing national standards, developing and researching industry standards, popularizing existing standards".Currently, HL7 (Health Level 7) has become the recognized standards in medical community of America. 95% hospitals, 95% medical-related equipments and information systems in the whole America use HL7 standard. In Germany, Japan and other developed countries, HL7 has also gradually been widely used. After ten years in development, HL7 has become an international standard; it will play an important role in the international arena. Due to various reasons, hospital information systems in our country use the different technical specification, impeding interconnection of medical information systems and information sharing seriously, making information systems of the different medical and public health departments as"Information Island". Therefore, using HL7 as uniform standard of medical information to solve the problem of"Information Island"is of great advantage.HL7 standard has become one of the medical information exchange standards which are most widely used in medical information industry. As HL7 standards widely used, most domestic and international manufacturers use HL7 standard to research and develop related products in medical information industry, and HL7 message parsing, transmitting are the core functions of many medical information systems. HL7 message format converting will also facilitate communication of medical information systems and other medical related systems.So the paper uses HL7 open source toolkit HAPI-0.5.1 for supporting developing, implementing HL7 message parsing, transmitting, and its format converting, and testing and validating the function of message transmitting by HL7 Messaging Workbench. The research referenced in the paper on the HL7 message parsing, transmitting, and its format converting has very important practical significance.
