Nowadays, under the keenly competitive surroundings, the information has already become the most important factor in business enterprise management. To found the modern management information system, which is the main step of realizing the management modernization, it has already become the objective requirement of the business enterprise management, and it has also been a foundation construction. As the advanced technology of management information system, Enterprise Resource Planning, which is based on the information technology, offers enterprise a management flat for decision and operation with systematic management ideology. SAP R/3 system is the most successful software of ERP now. System Applications, and Products in Data Processing, it is one of the business enterprise resources programming (ERP) software product. It includes many different models and businesses application that each application represents a particular business realm and each model represents a basic model handle. The SAP R/3 is the most strongly in function and the most widely used system of ERP in the world wide. The characteristics of systems of R/3: Comprehensive function, the highly compositive model, the finer adjustability, opening the application environment. With the development of the global integrative economy, it is necessary for corporations to realize the information share. At the same time, computer technology, specially the development of web technology boosting the global computer network system, facilitate information share between different regions. According to a certain agreement and standard, using network achieving information share, this is EDI. EDI began to be applied by many corporations only in recent years, but most of them are all traditional nationalized corporation, astricted by planned economy for a long period, of which assets structure was illogical, technology was dated, administration was mess. In general, why EDI technology is adopted by corporations is that EDI can bring considerable benefits for them. Theoretically, the application's benefits of EDI are long-term, all-around. Concretely including: reducing costs associated with document processing, eliminating of handing erroneous business transactions, improving inventory efficiencies ,reducing in personnel costs, improving speed of communication and quality of transmission, better customer service, gaining competitive advantage and reinforcing competitive position, improving internal processes, better supply chain management, improving invoicing, etc. The SAP R/3 system has already become the preferred choosing for many famous companies. The conversion of the SAP's message from transporting in paper to in EDI is the important assurance that raises the work efficiency and the level of management. But the SAP system is a compositive system, its every function need to be further implemented. So in order to carry out the EDI transport which is based on the SAP R/3 system, the first essentials is to gather them. Because of the special of the SAP system, so the found and the format switching of the message are different from the traditional EDI. The task of this thesis is to introducing the message translating and sending of EDI, which is based on the SAP R/3 system. As a part of application of EDI technology for Siemens VDO Automotive Changchun Co., Ltd., a general research of the technology of mapping and translating in the EDI format translating, and it also discusses the different shape of EDI in the mapping and translating. It includes five chapters. In the first chapter, it introduces SAP R/3's development course, basic concept, function characteristic and raise why so many companies required it. At the beginning of chapter 2 ,it introduces the basic knowledge of EDI. Because of the special of the SAP system, so the found and the format switching of the message is different from the traditional EDI.
