Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study is to determine the way to convert a deformed shell structure into CAD/CAM program via NURBS (Non Uniform Rational B-Spline) curve under the IGES or STEP file format.; Previously, CAD/CAM systems interpolate all points from data input to regenerate the contour of the curve via spline interpolation method.; With the NURBS polynomial, the imported curve can be regenerated through control points lying outside the curve and their weight scalars helping to deform the input curve easily. Moreover, another advantage feature of this method is that the calculation of finite element analysis will rarely lead to a singular matrix due to the disorder of the control points resulting the messy matrix.; The result of this study indicates that, with the advanced features of NURBS, it will be the replacement of the tradition spline interpolation method and lead to the new future of data exchange and format in all of the CAD/CAM systems.
