H.264 is the Internationa l Telecommunication Union and the Internationa l Organiza tion forStandardiza tion to improve the existing video coding standards of coding efficiency andtransmission performa nce of the joint la unch of a new coding standard. It introduces a largenumber of today's high-tech video coding algorithms, such as the macro variable block size,DCT integer transform, more accurate intra prediction, deblock ing filter, efficient entropy codingtechniques. Its highly efficient coding efficiency and a good network of transmissionperforma nce to the field of video compression used in the increasingly widespread. The future,H.264 is bound to the ma instream video coding algorithm.Embedded systems with its core sma ll, which can be cut, real-time characteristics ofstability and pla ying in various fields. Now with the continuous development of next-generationmultimed ia technologies, the advantages of embedded systems are more and more peopleconcern. How to implement H.264 video codec by an embedded system has become the focus ofthe study.With the wide range of multimedia applications, video transmission becomes increasingly important. Thecompressed video data in order to taking a step forward to ensure that changing network environment in thetransmission of high-definition video data, it is necessary for the current video coding algorithm has beenimproved. While the H.264 coding algorithm than previous video coding algorithm has been great progress,but there are still shortcomings, which need to be more in-depth study and optimization algorithms. At the sametime, how to effectively implement in embedded systems H.264 video codec is currently the focus of the study,in practical applications there are still many difficulties. Therefore, this paper hopes to the H.264 encodingalgorithm in-depth study on the intra prediction algorithm in which proposed a more optimal encoding. At thesame time through the design of a system, carried out in the embedded H.264 encoded video capturecompression module, to achieve the H.264 used in embedded systems this goal.This article will introduce the releva nt principles of video coding based on H.264 Encoder tohighlight the structure and division levels, and a detailed analysis of H.264 coding keytechnologies and coding performa nce. H.264 encoding technology further elaborated on the intraprediction algorithm for the ma in features and shortcomings. At the same time frame coding forits inherent shortcomings, a more efficient and easy to implement intra-prediction optimization. In addition this paper will also highlight a way to H.264 coding algorithm is applied toembedded systems are implemented. First, the embedded platform, by designing the hardwareand software structure, as understa nding of embedded Linux systems use. Followed by a detailedanalysis of the embedded system, how to implement video capture compression module, theentire process. Hardware, the ma in analysis of the performa nce characteristics of the ma in chip;the software side, focuses on the video capture chip-driven design, video equipment, core-drivenprocess, as well as video capture compression module, the ma in function of the software designprocess.Lastly will be a brief introduction to the video capture compression module in the practica lapplica tion of the role pla yed in and produce results.
