With the development of modern industry, the power supply technology for logistics and automation equipment needs to meet new requirements. The automation equipment based on cable towline, slide wire and the battery has some limitations in some circumstances, while Contactless Power Supply (CPS) technique can overcome the limitations due to its good security, high reliability, low maintenance cost and environmentally friendly characteristics.Typical Electrified Monorail System (EMS) of material handling system was studied as an example to explore the CPS technology and its application in EMS. Based on the elaboration of CPS system basic principles and structure, the key technology research of EMS Contactless Power Supply Pickups was analyzed and technology programs of put forward Pickups R&D was proposed then.The focus of this paper lies in studying electromagnetic mechanism and the circuit structure of Pickups. Firstly, the material of electromagnetic mechanism, as well as the loss was analyzed and the electromagnetic mechanism magnetic circuit model was built. The optimal location between primary cable and winding coils was ensured through the simulation of electromagnetic mechanism by using ANSYS. Secondly, for the circuit section, LCL resonant topology compensation circuit were focused for discussion based on the traditional parallel resonance and series resonance compensation circuit, then a certain load range with a stable voltage output of the Pick-up circuit was proposed, hence the technique foundation was built up for improving Pick-ups performance.Based on the EMS Contactless Power Supply system test line of Jiangsu Logistics Automation Equipment Engineering Research Centre, self-developed pickup prototype was developed and improved continuously. In the meantime, much emerging problems in application has been solved to realize the Contactless Power Supply for EMS, the application requirement from customers has been achieved then.Finally, a brief summary of the study and the further research prospect were made.
