Currently, the manufacturing industry of China is developed rapidly. And China has become a big manufacturing country while more and more modern high technology is applied to these fields. The development of virtual reality technology in domestic is concerned by various fields. Especially, virtual reality technology in the manufacturing industry has gradually been a hot area of research.Many factories and enterprises hope to follow the time tide in today's ever-changing digital environment. They need a reasonable design and planning in order to reduce construction costs while rebuilding the factory floors. When the design engineers use traditional methods to plan factory, they will meet many difficulties such as design problems, planning bias and comprehension difficulties, which will result in more manpower and material resources waste. Factory planning system using digital products provide visual design and the dynamic planning in the factory construction.This paper starts from the system's overall framework and the software and hardware structure, introduces the designing method and the implementation process of the various sub-functions and the various functional blocks in detail. In this system, we primarily design and implement visual planning platform based on virtual reality technology. Next, we analyze and design three functional modules for virtual factory planning platform by effectively combining virtual reality technology with simulation technology, such as scene modeling, system simulation and planning evaluation. The main tasks are as follows:1. Design and implement the model base management subsystem in order to manage the virtual factory model and protect the model of ownership. Through the system, we can acquire device model reasonably, optimize model structure, set the model format, manage effective information of model, and provide convenience for the scene modeling in virtual factory planning.2. Analyze the relationship between logical attribute of factory equipment and visual three-dimensional model in detail on the virtual factory scene modeling. We use rendering method in OpenSceneGraph to establish an efficient scene graph and object-oriented technology to design reasonable virtual objects which make virtual object's geometric model and behavior model of interoperability. That provides good scene support for the design of system simulation.3. Make a depth study on the process of the continuous/discrete hybrid system, design mechanism of simulation timer advancement rationally, adopt the method of message-based event scheduling effectively, control and implement three-dimensional simulation of the system. In the system, we can dynamically edit the scene and attributes in the simulation process which made the whole virtual factory planning reasonable in the end.The interface of the system software is friendly, easy to operate, and visually effective. The virtual reality environment provides a lot of view modes, like the visualization of 1:1 ratio, so the designers can feel the planning and design activities as if carried out in the real world. Through the system we can build a virtual reality environment for the use of virtual factory planning, achieve 3D visualization of the planning and designing data, and realize the human-computer interaction of simulation in the planning process, that is to say, what you get by what you see, finally it can establish intelligence assessment and restraint systems combining the practical operation of the plant to analyze and optimize the planning results.
