Along with the computer and communication technology advances, The monitoring system of the industrial site experienced a development history that from local to remote, from centralized to network. Generally the remote monitoring system in the modern time is a network system that monitor and control the remote field equipment across Internet or Intranet, it can realize remote real-time control, at the same time also achieve the purpose of equipment sharing. University of Science and Technology of China automation department laboratory has three large process control devices for teaching, on the basis of established VPN data connection, this paper uses the commonly used OPC and EIP technology in industry control area to build the data and monitoring interface, realizes the laboratory remote monitoring system.This paper firstly introduces the background and development history of the technology used, studies the component object model of OPC technology, and reviews the evolution of OPC protocol version and the features of all versions, does research on the application and development of Industrial Ethernet in the field of industry automation, analyzes several mainstream industrial Ethernet technologies.Then I realize the OPC server and client development. After analyzed the OPC server object composition and interface protocols, I programmed the OPC server that meets the standard of OPC DA then tested it; Compared three commonly used ways to develop the OPC client, then chosen the last two ways, realized my OPC clients on VC++ and .NET platforms. They can successfully communicate and exchange data with the OPC server through testing; Using OPC interface technology to put the widely used data processing and simulation tool MATLAB into the control field, it can exchange data with the field equipments after testing.This paper also developed another data interface based on the EtherNet/IP technology. Firstly I introduced the development background and application prospect of the EIP technology, analyzed its communication model, especially the core part of CIP agreement including object model and communication mechanism. I designed the CIP communication interface based on the announced EIP communication stack. Lastly developed the communication interface of EIP and ControlLogix series controller used in the laboratory. Finally I realized the whole remote monitoring system of my laboratory. Based on the VPN data connection, we can use the former developed data interface as the upper application of the remote monitoring system to exchange data directly with the field equipments. The remote users can realize monitor and control operations with no need to install Rockwell Automation's software.
