Electromagnetic pulse incremental forming is a new forming method, which is the combination of electromagnetic forming technology and incremental forming technology. Lots of attentions have been paid on electromagnetic pulse incremental forming due to its high efficiency, good surface quality, small rebound and high controllability. Electromagnetic pulse incremental forming equipment consists of electromagnetic forming coil and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) system. The performance of CNC system determines the machining accuracy of forming parts. So, the purpose of this paper is developing a new high-accuracy CNC system.Under the design requirements of Electromagnetic pulse incremental forming processing, this paper designs a motion control panel based on ARM. The combination of Control panel and Industrial Personal Computer (IPC) build master-slave CNC architecture. The study content of this CNC system is as follows:1. Under the motion requirements of forming equipment, CNC system generate 4-way high-frequency, stable pulses signals. System can control pulse signals through setting frequency, duty cycle and number. Pulse signals driver the linkage motion of 4 stepper motors. At the same time, CNC system generate 4-way direction signal and 4-way enable signal with 4-way pulses signal to control stepper motors.2. Encoder is employed to ensure motion accuracy. Systems capture the pulse signal of incremental photoelectric encoder, and extract the information of speed and location. Then calculate the deviation between feedback data and raw data to adjust the signal.3. Because the forming process control signal and the motion data are generated by IPC, the control panel needs to communicate with IPC. Design one kind of reliable, rapid communication mode by serial port to made control panel communicate motion data with IPC.
