Rolling of blooms is the intermediate process of steelmaking and rolling of finished at the prior period of steel processing. Ingot will be compressed and become the billet of symmetrical mass and nicer external quality in Rolling of blooms. The size of blooming mill is directly related to the production capacity of Iron & steel enterprises. Whereas, the general CNC system would not meet the requirement if the size is too large. According to design requirements of working environment and process, this paper designed a fieldbus control system based on PROFIBUS-DP which guarantee rolling quality. This system include PLC, intelligent sensor, multifactional DP-Slave module and large LED display. The main work of the paper are summed up as follows:1. This paper used a wire draw encoder with DP-Slave interface which collected thickness data. Siemens S7-300 PLC was employed for DP-Master. Configured the PLC, intelligent sensor and multifactional DP-Slave module by STEP7. This system can display the thickness data in real time.2. It has been finished that Multifactional DP-Slave module include interface of DP-slave, CAN Bus interface, RS-232 interface, display data output cell. This module is used for PROFIBUS-DP communication and diplaying about thickness. The achievement of the DP-Slave interface adopted the hardware protocol converted of "MCU +ASIC ", and it consisted of the main interface circuit between STM32 of ST and SPC3 of Siemens and extral assistant interface circuit.3. The software of PROFIBUS-DP master-slave communication has been completed. Through RealView MDK development platform, designed the Configuration of STM32 system, interrupt handling routine of data exchange of DP-Slave and procedure of display.This paper not only aimed at achieving the supervision and displayment of blooming mill, but also made a previous research on reconstruction scheme for whole control system.
