The website of our government is one of the important parts for developing e-government, which aims at building an open, unified, transparent government. Nevertheless, the core of the public-centered e-government project is to realize the interaction in the process of management, construction and application.The paper, firstly, makes a brief introduction to the overall situation of our e-government development in China, explaining the necessity of refining the interaction function. Secondly, the paper makes it clear that the interaction function of the government website is the key source for the public to participate in the management of the state affairs by researching the realization of interactions of government website home and abroad. Thirdly, with analyzing the government website home and abroad, the paper lists the main problems in the interaction function of Guangdong provincial government website, including the complicated operation for the public to obtain and submit information, the lack of effective source and the passive way for the government to obtain the hotspot, the lack of effective mechanism to supervise the handling of hot spot and feedback, the low efficiency of interaction which confined the public to BBS communication, etc. In order to solve the above mentioned problems and to meet the public demands for interaction, the paper describes the development of a new sub-system, the Public Interaction System of Guangdong provincial government website. The new system will refine the procedures for both the public and the government to communicate, and illustrates the five core functions in interaction building: user management, public initiatives, online consultation, questionnaires and system analysis.The innovations included in the paper are: the realization of effective share of information by building interaction virtual communities among the public, the government and to one another with referring to the popular SNS mode and the nominal management of users; the effective supervision on the government by the public due to the wide application of internet; creating a convenient way for the government to gather public opinions; the realization of checking on the quality of government's feedback with the satisfaction surveying mechanism, and the improvement of interaction with the new WebIM function in the system.
