With the rapid development of manufacturing industry, automobile, shipbuilding, mechanical equipment manufacturing industry, the demand for steel pipe increasingly enlarges, due to which the steel pipe quality especially the surface quality are high evaluated, therefore the cleaning of the rust steel pipe before they are used is becoming gradually important. Blast cleaning is the most effective way of steel pipe cleaning, however in China, PLC is widely used as the Control System of most shot-blasting production lines of steel pipe. Most of the important parameters are regulated manually, leading to inefficient cleaning and inconsistent quality and thereby giving rise to negative influences on the regular use of the steel pipe. Therefore, it is of great significance to develop the automatic shot-blasting production line for steel pipe with high degree of automation, high efficiency, high quality that could adapt to modern management.Based on extensive surveys and researches on relevant advanced technology documents, the general scheme of the automatic shot blasting production line for steel pipe has been developed which consists of the industrial computer as the upper supervisor, PLC as the bottom real-time control computer. The development of software, hardward of upper monitered control system, bottom real-time control system and the design of intelligent control algorithm have been emphatically discussed.To solve the problem of over-polishing or less-polishing as a result of the difficulty to control the flux and the speed of the shot, the system uses eddy current sensor to detect the corrosion degree of the steel pipe and to calculate the best flux and the speed of the shot through Artificial Neural Network intelligent algorithm, and then to control the flux and the speed of the shot for real-time. This method improves the efficiency and quality of shot blasting.To deal with the inconvenience of production line information processing and data management, the system uses WebAccess, an advanced configuration software, as the developer platform. The system can not only simulate and monitor situation of the production site, but also has advanced functions such as information management, auto- control, etc, combined with the remote operating system and centralized network management, which makes it more suitable for modern production.According to test results and production practice, this automatic shot-blasting control and monitor system for steel pipe based on WebAccess has met manufacturer's technical requirements in areas such as cleaning quality, efficiency, operability, processing speed, management aspects, etc. Compared with the same type of shot-blasting systems for steel pipe, this system is technically advanced, stable and reliable, and can be broadly adopted.
