Gigabit PON(GPON) is the developmental tendency of access network. The key technology of GPON system lies in its TC layer, upstream frame format and GEM frame format. So this thesis, research of GPON system ONU TC layer's uplink access, is of great significance for the development of GPON. Studying on GPON technology provides excellent theoretical foundation for the industrial development of broadband access network and is of certain academic significance of promoting our country's development of integrated broadband optical access network.Passive PON is the mainstream of modern optical access network. So, the developing process of access network is briefly introduced in the thesis.On the basis of comparing various technologies of PON, the advantages and disadvantages of GPON and EPON is shown. On the premise of studying the current situation and future development of GPON system both home and abroad, with studies in the TC sub-layer, upstream frame format, operation and management of PLOAM information, GEM frame format, TDM service over GEM and other key technologies of GPON, the upstream access working process of TC sub-layer is put forward.Second, according to the principles of coding and decoding on GTC layer, the relevant coding and decoding on TC layer is carefully designed. The accuracy of coding and decoding process is verified by observing the simulation results with well designed simulation conditions.Third, according to the explanation of protocol G984.3 on the upstream frame format and the way to pad each field, the idea of modularization to design upstream access on TC sub-layer of GPON is adopted, with each module realizing a certain function. Upstream access, which is divided into control and management of upstream and design of framing function, realizes the sending control from user to optical line terminal on TC sub-layer of GPON system according to the design scheme and simulation results of each module.Finally, with a further analysis of the format and basic principle of frame E1, Verilog HDL is used to design and simulate each module of the system and an overall implementation of interface E1 is given.
