With the rapid development of computer technology and web technology, the amount of individual information grows dramatically. At the same time, the methods of data collection are increasing and cost of data storage is decreasing. As a result, such data stored in present computer can be with a larger size than it in the past. So, how to manage personal information more effectively has been a hot research field. Though variant modern software, such as desktop search tool, documentation manager, mail manager, and so forth, can be considered as general data manager, none of them have a definite data model, only supporting simple keyword queries, which are lack of semantic retrieval. So this paper employs the concept space of PIM to organize and manage personal information. According to characteristics of file path and application features of it used in the PIM concept space, the mapping between personal information entity and information in PIM concept space can be realized by referring to the file path. This paper adopts the Ext-Ordpath encoding schema to compress it, in order to reduce data storage space and improve personal information management efficiency in PIM concept space. The main work and achievements of this paper can be concluded as follows:1. Based on the research of personal information management system architecture, this paper introduces three-tier system model, and propose PIM concept space model, which used to manage personal information.2. In order to resolve the data redundancy existed in the file path of the PIM concept space, this paper provides a file-path-tree model, which utilizes an Ext-Ordpath encoding schema to reduce the data storage space. Meanwhile, this schema can save the detail information of the original document. And the user can perform updating, querying, and other operations without decoding operation.3. Due to the inherent disadvantage of Ordpath coding schema, it will generate the invalidation immediate file paths during the query procedure, losing the existing number of the same record paths, considering the sub-path of the original record path as a complete record. This paper puts forth the lossless coding schema Ext-Ordpath to deal with these problems. 4. Experimental indicates that the Ext-Ordpath schema can not only reduce data storage space, but also increases the efficiency of query and update against Ordpath coding schema.
