With the development of the industrial automation, new requirements for power supply are put forward to satisfy the automatic material handling equipments. Traditional power supply can't satisfy the new demands because of its inherent limitations, while the contactless power supply (CPS) can meet the new requirements for its unique advantages, such as security, reliability, high efficiency, flexibility and so on.The automated guided vehicle (AGV), a typically kind of industrial automated material handling system, is taken as an application. The feasibility and advantages of the AGV powered by CPS are researched after the descriptions of the basic principle, the developments as well as the research actuality about CPS.A solution for the AGV powered by CPS is advanced considering the special requirements of the system. The key technologies about the primary high-frequence inverter and current transformation are analyzed and realized.A method is founded for eliminating specific PWM harmonic with a simple, effective, reliability and low-cost control strategy. The results laid a technological basis for the development of high-power CPS. A proposed new LCL topology circuit, in accordance with specific application to design constant current source and constant voltage source model, not only has good low-pass filter characteristics, but also protects the switch effectively and reduce system losses. Test results shows that the development of AGV system powered by CPS fully meets the demand for power supply, and has stable and reliable characteristics.Finally, all the research work and achievements are summarized and the prospects based on the experimental experience are proposed.
