With the rapid development of information technology, LCD has been widely applied in all aspects of people's lives and has brought great convenience to people's information exchange.A FPGA centered LCD controller for embedded system is designed in the paper. The LCD controller takes a DDR SDRAM as graphic memory and FPGA as control core. Through the operation of LCD controller, embedded system can realize the setting of LCD timing and the writing of display data, thus completing the LCD display.First of all, based on discussing the principle of LCD, the present situation in domestic and abroad, the main design methods, this paper analysis the design requirements and overall structure of the LCD controller designed in this paper. Then, the paper expounds the selection of the hardware chips and hardware circuit design.And then, the paper analysis the design of the main modules in the LCD controller, including the MCU interface module, display memory control module, AFIFO module, address generation module and the LCD interface module. Mainly focuses on the design of parameter registers, the design of DDR SDRAM controller, using AFIFO to solve the data transfer in asynchronous clock domain, generating timing signal for LCD module.PSoC is a true programmable embedded system-on-chip integrating configurable analog and digital peripheral functions, memory and a microcontroller on a single chip. Finally, the paper applies the LCD controller to PSOC experimental platform. The display result indicates the project has achieved the anticipation, and proves the LCD controller is practical and effective.
