The application of fire has played a huge role in promoting human civilization and social progress, however, once the fire out of control, also causes tremendous suffering to human beings. Fire disaster refers to the burning out of control in time or space, it directly endangers human life and property safety, pollutes the environment, even leads to ecological imbalance, and causes huge losses to human beings. At the present stage, people develop fire detection system based on sensor principles and video image processing by studying fire occurrence and development mechanism and laws, the aim is to provide new ideas and methods for fire prevention and control by using modern high-tech means and to promote the progress of the fire prevention and control techniques.This thesis first introduces the hazard of fire disaster and the development status of fire detector, indicates the current fire detector's shortage in flexibility and environmental adaptability. In order to meet the co-operation with the functional requirements of building unmanned fire monitoring and alarm system, in this thesis, we design the key module of the whole system--a core circuit which is based on DSP, SAA7111A and CPLD. The core circuit will integrate video capture and processing functions, the video capture function will be achived by CPLD and SAA7111A, and the processing and analysis function will be achived by DSP.When finished the analysis of the overall composition of the module, the thesis highlights the working principle and design process of different parts of the module, and gives the schematic diagram and printed circuit board diagram of the module. As the circuit works in high frequency, and is strict in signal quality and timing requirements, we use Hyperlynx software to analyze the signal integrity and timing of the module's PCB diagram before producing circuit board in order to ensure the system to work properly. Finally the PCB diagram is fixed and the circuit board is produced.The software is designed when the circuit board is produced, include DSP low-level hardware drivers, CPLD video capture control logic, image processing algorithms and host computer display program. Besides the DSP program is developed in CCS3.3 programming environment, the CPLD program is developed using verilog language in Quartus II environment, host computer program is developed by Delphi.Thereafter, the thesis gives the experimental results, analyzes some capture and processing parameters, and verifies the accuracy and reliability of the circuit's working performance. The final system is small and easy to assemble, so greatly increases the flexibility to use. Meanwhile the system can work independent of the computer, eliminates the environmental requirements brought by computers, and greatly enhances the environmental adaptability.Finally, the thesis summarizes the research work on the topic, points out the lack of research work and prospects the further work.
