With the global economic and cultural development, Western consumer magazines as the leader of consumer magazine market play an important role in Chinese consumer culture construction, and also have tremendous potential and development space. Western consumer magazines approach a way of copyright cooperation to propagate the consumer culture with the Western capitalist tendencies. They not only actively promoted the advanced Western consumer culture, but also brought the pursuit of material pleasures, profligate consumption of luxury and other negative concepts. With China's traditional concept of consumption continue to impact and fusion, Western consumer magazines developed a unique strategy for consumer culture communication, thereby affecting the formation and development of our consumer culture.In this paper, Western consumer magazines as the main object of study, combining text analysis, functional analysis and case studies, to analyses the relationship between Western consumer magazine and consumer culture communication. The contents of this paper are divided into six parts.The first part defines the Western consumer magazines'concept and sort out relevant research, comes up with the innovation of this paper.The second part introduces the policy, culture, business, and status of Western consumer magazines to analyze the influence and the problems in our periodical market.The third part studies Western consumer magazines'contents from both macro and micro perspectives. With establishing consumerism, individualism, hedonism of Western values, Western consumer magazines promote fashion aesthetics, fashion image, fashion consumer goods, fashion lifestyle and other consumption of specific cultural details.The fourth part investigates the strategies of consumer culture communication, makes a study of how Western consumer magazines take idol, visual and symbols to stimulate consumer desire and influence our consumer attitudes and behaviors.The fifth part analyzes the various impacts of consumer cultures consumption, Western consumer magazines not only actively promote the development of consumer periodicals or build consumer culture, but also brought some negative issues, like the dominant culture of western expansion and homogenization of consumer culture.The sixth part summarizes a conclusion of the future prospects of Western consumer magazines, our periodical market and the real substance of consumer culture communication.The results show that Western consumer magazines, orderly integrates the Western consumer information, as a base media of mature western consumer culture, constantly create new consumer demand and meet the needs of our consumer society. So the Western consumer magazines in China has its own unique social function and social role, relying on the interdependence between consumer culture and the relationship to change our concept of consumption and consumer behavior, then achieve the purpose of capital expansion of Western culture.
