As the forestry informatization develops rapidly, various new technologies, such as Computer technology, Network technology, Remote Sensing, Geography Information System, Global Navigation Satellite System, have been introduced to the forestry work and widely used in different departments. The applications of the new technologies have accumulated great amounts of valuable data, and improved both work efficiency and data quality at the same time. However, due to the lack of unified standard, data formats are not compatible with each other, which resulted in the difficulties of resources sharing. Data can not be fully used, and the resources are wasted. Therefore, in order to promote the sharing and the utilization of the forest data resource, and make full use of them, this paper tries to develop Forest Resource Data Sharing System. On the basis of the system's designed functional requirements and the comparation with some popular platforms, this paper chooses open source platform to develop the system and works out a set of solutions. The system takes GeoServer as map publisher, and OpenLayers as client to show the map in the browser. Then the forest resource data can be browsed and queried with GeoServer and OpenLayers. When region of space is submitted by clients, data will be overlaying analyzed with GeoTools development kit by server, and the result can be downloaded and shared. Besides, clients can submit SQL to the server and the result will be returned. In this way the statistical analysis of forest resource data is implemented. This system can expand the data easily, so it will provide more reference data to related staff and basis to decision maker.
