In recent years, the development of computer technology is rapidly and the data acquisition and processing technology has become an important method to get information. The data acquisition technology develops continuously with the development of computer technology. Now data acquisition technology is widely used in scientific research and industrial applications, and it has become a powerful tool for scientific research.This paper develops a multi-channel data acquisition system which is based on the need of Shanghai Port. We use FPGA as the CPU of the system and use USB to transfer data. Then we develop application software using a G language and the C++ language. The system consists of hardware and software design in two parts.The first part of hardware design is using the AD7829 to obtain the original signals. The FPGA is the system'manager who's responsibility to generate control signals for the system. The USB'responsibility is to transfer data from FPGA to computer.Software part is responsible for the processing of data completion of data analysis, display, storage and other functions. This paper discusses two methods to develop the software, one is using G language to finish the signal display and analysis, and this is based on LABVIEW which is a revolutionary graphical programming environment. We establish a connection between LABVIEW and USB using Virtual Instrument Software Architecture. We also establish a connection successfully on the programming platform VC++6.0, and we use FFT to analysis signals to obtain the frequency witch is we need.Finally, we integrate the hardware and the software to complete the design of the multi-channel data acquisition system. After testing the data acquisition system we find it performs greatly and can meet our needs. So we can say it has a great practical value.
